Material group 03
– Engineering plastics
In the areas of heat resistance, chemical resistance, impact resistance, fire resistance and mechanical resilience, engineering plastics often have a much higher performance than standard materials such as wood or metal. Especially in heavy technical applications, they have largely replaced traditional materials. In terms of weight-strength ratio and other properties, they have advantages and they are also easier to process, especially in complex shapes. A distinction is made between three areas:
