  • Hänssler Kunststoff- und Dichtungstechnik feiert im Jahr 2026 das 40-jährige Jubiläum

40 years of plastics and sealing technology from Mannheim

In 2026, Hänssler Kunststoff- und Dichtungstechnik GmbH will celebrate its 40th anniversary. The occasion ties in with the year 1986, when Dipl. Ing. Andreas Hänssler founded the then Hänssler Hydraulik GmbH in Mannheim and started manufacturing turned seals in an old tobacco barn in Mannheim-Seckenheim. The first CNC lathe was quickly followed by CNC milling and a plastic injection moulding machine, while the business was relocated to Mannheim-Friedrichsfeld.

    Growth & milestones

Over the years, the company has grown into a broad-based development partner for sealing technology and technical plastic parts. Milestones included the move to its current location in 1996, expansion into several plants, and the establishment of modern logistics and quality assurance. As early as 2004, environmental aspects such as photovoltaics and water/wastewater management were taken into account in the construction of the new hall. Despite all the technological advances, sealing technology remains the foundation of the company. Forty years of experience in design, material understanding, and manufacturing still shape the way we think and act, because that is precisely what our technical reliability is based on. At the same time, the company consciously embraces a spirit of research that questions existing solutions and allows for new approaches..

    Additive manufacturing & rebranding

Over the years, this approach has resulted in concrete technological steps that have specifically expanded the portfolio without severing its roots. One such new solution was the first industrial 3D printing activities in 2013, with which Hänssler set course for additive manufacturing. This was followed in 2016 by the company’s 30th anniversary and the change of name to the current Hänssler Kunststoff- und Dichtungstechnik GmbH. Both were accompanied by investments in highly complex turning/milling processes and the consistent expansion of plastics expertise, so that new manufacturing processes and proven precision technology converge on the same quality standard.

Future course: digitalisation & new technologies

The company, now managed by Dipl. Ing. Sebastian Hänssler, has decided to pursue a growth strategy and is focusing on digitalisation in the form of networked processes and the development of new manufacturing technologies. LFAM (Large Format Additive Manufacturing): a hybrid combination of 3D printing and machining, as well as the use of digital twins, AI and the establishment of an IoT infrastructure, make the company a modern and future-proof tech innovator. This is also demonstrated by research projects such as the DLC coating of elastomers as a sustainable alternative to PFAS materials.
The way forward is therefore clear: in 2026, Hänssler will not only be celebrating, but will also continue to invest in technologies that make plastic and sealing solutions faster, bigger, more sustainable and more functionally integrated.
